Our Story

If you're an eco-warrior, and lover of all things sustainable, we should be friends! Here's a bit about us...

Hi there! We’re Pam and Andy, the proud owners of The Yukon Refillery.

Pam moved to Whitehorse in 2018 to work as a permafrost scientist at Yukon College. Her love for nature and passion for soil and climate change science led her to dive deep into environmental toxicity. After discovering her own allergies, Pam launched Crocus Botanicals, creating natural products that fit perfectly into a bulk refillery concept.

Andy’s passion for organic food and sustainable living runs deep. He’s been living a low-waste lifestyle for years, even building a Passive House to minimize his environmental footprint. When he's not working at the store, you’ll find him on the land growing garlic for the Yukon Garlic Company or crafting the beautiful wood fixtures around our shop.

Our story really took a turn during the pandemic. In 2020, both of us had a severe bout with COVID-19, which led to long-term effects that changed the course of our lives. We knew we couldn’t continue down our previous paths, so when The Yukon Refillery was up for sale in July 2022, we jumped at the chance. This store was exactly what the Yukon community needed—a place that supports sustainability, reduces waste, and helps tackle climate change. Despite the ongoing challenges of long COVID, we’re more committed than ever to bringing the best products to our community. It was a big change for us, but buying the store was hands down one of the best decisions we’ve made—well, second best, after partnering up with each other!

Our Mission

  • To reduce our dependence on single use plastics.
  • To remove barriers towards living a zero waste lifestyle
  • To support local businesses
  • To empower you to be the change!

Our Vision

Imagine a world where plastic free living was the norm. Accessibility, price and quality were never an issue. What if there was no trash at all?

We are on a mission to manifest this dream into reality. Join us in making moves towards an eco-friendly world.

Updates

This past year so many things have happened at The Yukon Refillery. We leveled up big time by acquiring half of the old Collective Good space in Horwood's Mall. This meant that we had four times the space to work with compared to our previous small little shop. We expanded to add so many new products and are now carrying over 1,600 products! We also carry 15 local brands as well. The expansion came with a lot of work but it was well worth the effort. Our space is open and inviting, inclusive and accessible to all!
